It's hard work being a teenager. Nobody understands you and people constantly rattle your cage. You are clearly no longer a kid but you are definitely not respected like an adult. Then of course there are the rules and constant nagging not to mention the social pressures! PG26 Transcript – Teenagers on parents
Deutsch1: Meine Eltern halten sich für ganz schön hip und aufgeschlossen. Leider entspricht dieses Bild nicht der Wahrheit und ehrlich gesagt, komme ich mit meinen Eltern gar nicht klar. Sie gehen mir ziemlich auf die Nerven. Sie sind so realitätsfremd, dass sie sich überhaupt nicht in meine Lage versetzen können. Und glaub(e) mir, ich bin echt nicht einer dieser Teenager, die jegliche Autorität in Frage stellen. Ich kann mit Ihnen einfach über gar nichts quatschen.English1: My parents believe themselves to be hip and open-minded. The reality is in fact quite different and to be honest I don’t get on with my parents well at all. They really get on my nerves. They are so out of touch with reality and they are incapable of putting themselves in my shoes. And trust me, it’s not a typical case of another teenager challenging authority, I seriously can’t talk to them about anything.
Deutsch2: Sie sagen, dass ich hartnäckig, launisch und verantwortungslos bin. Was für ein Quatsch! Zumindest bin ich nicht so altmodisch, engstirnig, kleinlich und autoritär, wie sie. Sie nörgeln immer an mir herum und sagen ich sollte mehr Respekt vor ihnen haben. Aber wie soll das gehen, bitteschön? Sie sind so naiv, dass es mir peinlich ist und ihre ganzen sinnlosen Vorschriften gehen mir ziemlich auf den Wecker! Vor einigen Tagen hat mich meine Mutter angeschimpft, weil ich zu spät von dem Club nach Hause kam. Vielleicht hat sie es nur gut gemeint, aber ich meine, was soll das? Ich bin doch kein Kind mehr! Wann werden sie das endlich raffen?
English2: They tell me I am stubborn, moody and irresponsible. What a load of bollocks! Well at least I’m not old-fashioned, narrow-minded, petty or authoritarian. They’re always having a go at me, telling me I should respect them more – but how can I? They are so naive it’s embarrassing and all their petty rules drive me up the wall. The other day my mother told me off for having come home late from the club. I mean what’s that all about? I know she might have meant well but it’s not as if I’m a kid anymore! When will that finally sink into their heads?

I love doing the quizzes as well. I especially love the English German match up exercises. Also what I find the most useful for me, as I have problem building sentences, are the scrambled German phrases. I like that I can have a few tries, and when I get it right the first time, I feel SOOOO GREAT! The quizzes are much more fun than writing on my german workbook and checking it all the time in the back.
